+ My Favorites
TBA They have 3 exciting big bands for guests to dance to over the weekend, all taking place in the 15,000 sq. ft. Grand Ballroom of the Downtown Richmond Marriott.
Friday, June 12th (8pm - 11pm)
The New HOTS Jazz Orchestra Directed by Jack Elder. This popular Washington, DC based big band plays the hot and sentimental music of the 20's and 30's with a dash of 40's swing and ballads from the 50's and beyond. There's plenty of Latin, and lots of vintage dance music you're sure to enjoy.
Saturday, June 13th (8pm - 11pm)
Brad Walker And His Orchestra direct from Knoxville, Tennessee. 22 year old Trombonist Brad Walker leads an excellent and exciting big band playing the music of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Les Elgart, and other giants of the big band era. The group is collectively known as "The Band with the Velvet Beat," and they have no trouble proving that to dancers.
Sunday, June 14th (11am - 2pm)
Joe Enroughty And His Royal Virginians are a Richmond, Virginia favorite! Patterned after the likes of Guy Lombardo, Jan Garber, and other popular "sweet bands" of the big band era, The Royal Virginians are indeed "The Band that Makes America Dance." With exciting Latin rhythms, smooth fox-trots and waltzes, and even some swing tunes to liven things up, this is the perfect band to top off our weekend of great big band dancing!
Dinner will be served both Friday and Saturday nights and breakfast will be served on Sunday.
