The old shopping and warehouse district on the Appomattox River now comprises the charming Old Towne. A walkable loop includes unique boutique shops, fine restaurants, museums, the Visitors Center, Farmers Market, spas, salons and Sycamore Rouge theater.
Petersburg National Battlefield marks the area of the longest siege in American History. It took nine-and-a-half months for General Ulysses S. Grant to evacuate General Robert E. Lee from Petersburg. Suggested activities are horseback riding, biking, hiking and auto touring.
